Born on March 23, 1882 in Erlangen Germany, Noether was part of a family of scientists and mathematicians. Her father, Max Noether was a math professor and mathematicians and two of her brothers were scientists. Despite her father’s position, Noether was educated the customary way for German girls. Because girls did not attend prep school, she studied languages and became an avid French speaker and eventually was certified to teach French at a girls school. But, Noether did not wish to teach French, she wanted to pursue what she really enjoyed and was interested in, the topic of mathematics. It would would be a long road before Noether would be able to unleash her inner genius, but when that day came the way that algebra was performed would be completely changed.
